Our new blog is up and running. Well, sort of running but like with a cramp in your leg every once in a while so you limp along for a bit. Trying to learn all the new things for it. But it does show our photos much better and it gives us a little more space to just be us. Why Aren't You Blogging!?

Haven't blogged in a bit because..... the great custom blog creators, Into the Darkroom, is creating a NEW BLOG for LSD PHOTOGRAPHY! Yeah! So nothing from this blog will transfer to it and I have some fun posts that I am saving to post in it as soon as it gets up. I think it will be another couple of weeks or so before it actually launches. I'll make a big to-do about it though! It will have much larger images, cool slideshows, categories and lots of coolness! Can't wait! We've got a few wedding slideshows, some bridal sessions, a peek at a boudoir session, babies and maternity and of course.... dogs - all waiting in the wings to post to the NEW BLOG! They've been great to work with at ITDR. Our Trippin' with LSD blog is about to be a reality. It reflects our main website and they are just beautiful together. Honestly, we are beside ourselves waiting!

Meanwhile, I had a couple of things of interest going on. As many of you know, the studio only has the back door entrance now and is a little smaller - more intimate - for viewings and consultations. Peek in when you're in the neighborhood. It's pretty! I had to move my household at this same time so it has been hectic and I apologize if I've missed replying to anyone's emails or phone calls. If I have, please just call me again - things are better now. :-) I'm actually taking this weekend to get my production office squared away but next weekend it's back to weddings for a bit. We are so blessed to get to shoot the first wedding in the new Mayo Hotel Crystal Ballroom on October 3, 2009. Carrie McFall and Ryan Higgins. A military couple tying the knot in their hometown. We just shot Carrie's bridal session on the roof at the Mayo last week. It was stunning! Can't wait to post those images.

Our September 19th couple, Mindi & Shane - was just featured in the Brides of Oklahoma newsletter. (sign up to receive this newsletter - it's very fun) How cute are they? Had Mindi's bridal session a couple of weeks ago and just got all her portraits framed this week for the wedding. We shot it on her parents property near Cushing which overlooks the Cimmaron river. Beautiful.

I was at Borders the other day with Kate - one of our favorite outings together. I swear I think we could stay in there for hours and not even realize it. I was looking for the large print section (which they move all the time) It's large print but it's not a very large section and I just check to see what new books they have for Lucille (my mom) b/c it is easier for her to read now that she's almost 90! She likes bios and things like that and I found one on Marilyn Monroe in large print! Right up Lucille's alley. Anyway, the large print section was moved over by the Literature section and I was looking thru there and came across these. Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte but published by different publishers with different covers. Same inside, different outside. Price ranged from $4.95 - $16.95. There was an entire shelf of this book. These are iphone pics and not so good either b/c there was a ladder in front of this section that couldn't be moved so I had to shoot around and through it.

Next - went to Southern Ag(riculture) to get dog/cat food and Tess came in and helped herself to a pig's ear. She just loves those things. She knows exactly what aisle it's on and just goes there and picks one out. She is the cutest dog ever, don't you think? Shake-it photo in the backseat of the truck. BTW - Shake-it photo is a very fun iphone app.

AND, LAST BUT NOT LEAST.... I am taking all of November OFF to help our little Mo get ready for our new grandson's arrival - November 20th! I'll post more from her formal maternity session on the NEW BLOG but here's a shake-it photo to hold you over. Morgan is the cutest pregnant person ever. She is WAY out in front with this little guy.

SeraFem is searing rock, rich classical lines, and intense, haunting vocals. SeraFem is six incredibly talented musicians that together rend a symphonic rock that draws you into the complexity of their sound. Lisa and I got to spend an electric evening shooting this band with thunderheads and rainbows serenading us overhead, in perfect harmony. Perfectly fitting. SeraFem is just now busting onto the Tulsa scene. Be watching for show dates and be sure to be one of the first to check this impressive band out!

CALL TO SERVICE - NEW YORK SAYS THANK YOU

Some of you know that last year about this time Sophia and I met the founder of New York Says Thank You, Jeff Parness, in Ft. Worth. One of those "accidental" meetings that brings people together that would never probably meet otherwise. It's a God thing. He invited us to the annual NYSTY charity event that was being held in Greensburg, KS that year, to help rebuild a town virtually destroyed by an F5 tornado. We felt called to go and just packed our gear and drove to Greensburg for 3 days to shoot the barn raising led by NYSTY and many citizens of Greensburg. We were welcomed with open arms and had a great time with all the volunteers and the families of Greensburg. It changed us forever. As I said, it is an ANNUAL event. It occurs each year the weekend before 9/11 - often labor day weekend. Firefighters from FDNY, many of whom were present on 9/11 and lost friends and co-workers in the abomination of that day, pack their gear and head to the site of assistance for the year - their way of saying "Thank You" to all the people who helped them in the wake of 9/11. Each year as they "pay it forward", people from the area helped the year before also trek to the new site. The volunteers have grown from a few to hundreds each year. There's always room for more. If you're looking for a way to "pay it forward" check out this organization. Maybe we'll see you in Souix City this September. "What we do is NOT about 9/11. What we do is about 9/12." LSD STUDIO UPDATE

Well it's been almost 3 years since we first opened our studio in Brookside. We've learned alot about our business and it has continued to grow. It sometimes gets a little bit away from us I must admit! Thank you all for your continued support and referrals. We are proud that the majority of our business comes from the referrals of our past and present clients. We are undergoing some changes in the studio and I wanted to make sure everyone knows the studio is staying where it is - Brookside. We love it there! We are changing our space around a little and the darling boutique next door, Sideways, is going to take the front of our space and we are moving around to the courtyard side space. We will only have a door on the courtyard side now instead of 35th Place. I don't want anyone freaking out when they drive by and don't see our stuff through the windows on 35th Place anymore. WE ARE STILL HERE! This is going to be a much better and more workable space for us for consultations and viewings. We are very happy and excited about our little change. Still parking in the back. We still have the Sonoma Wine Bar next door. Don't you just love that cheese plate! The best! Give us a call and come by.

SOONER BORN+SOONER BRED=SOONER WED!

Kendall and Blake are Norman Sooners through and through so when we discussed where they wanted their engagement session, there was no hesitation - they wanted it on the campus of the University of Oklahoma. These two met as children in Norman and there's some discrepancies as to how their paths crossed and re-crossed and who actually fell in love with whom first and all that BUT they are definitely on the same page now and will be married next spring in a hometown wedding blast! I love to hear Kendall and Blake talk with each other. It's so cute! Their conversations have that easy, comfortable feel to them of people who have known each other all their lives. I found myself shooting extra frames just to stay and listen to them a bit longer. When they came to the studio for a consultation, they were discussing the possibility of becoming dog owners which, of course, I totally encouraged and was happy to see they are now the proud parents of Tank - this darling little boxer. Kendall's sister, Julie brought Tank out for a few shots - he is fo fweet! Julie is getting married in October in Vermont but the girls are going to have hometown announcements together! So.... as the song goes...."they're sooner born and sooner bred and then next spring they'll be sooner wed!" (Okay, I know it doesn't go like that but in this case it does!)

Mindi + Shane SAIL AWAY!

When Mindi and Shane raised the possibility of an engagement session in their sailboat I thought it would be such fun. It was! We went to Lake Thunderbird near Norman and shoved off around sunset. These two spend a lot of their time together sailing and have plotted their course by the stars many a night. They have a few Oklahoma weather stories under their belts too! It was my first time sailing -- but I do like adventure and, while it was a lot more work than I ever thought it was, it sure was nice. A quiet, calmness to it that I could get used to (if I can find a Captain to hoist the sail and steer and lift the centerboard and tie the bow line and all that stuff). I did learn an important lesson on this sailing trip - if there is no wind, you have to row. Ummm. I love the way these two have a quiet connection between them. The looks, the smiles, a little touch between them - a quiet calmness that goes hand in hand with their favorite past time. They were definitely made to sail away together. Here's a few images from our time on the lake. I thought this sign had an interesting comment - "Solve your problems off the ramp". Thanks for the sailing lesson! I had a great time with you guys.

Emily and Blake got married July 11, 2009 at St. Benedict's Catholic Church with their reception following at the Tulsa Garden Center. One of the sweetest couples I've ever met. They laugh together constantly and just totally enjoy each other's company. Their wedding day was HOT in more ways than one. Let's just say they went to an island to cool off afterwards! The colors were vibrant and The French Bouquet flowers were totally scrumptious. The whole wedding will post to Pictage soon but here's a little sneak peek.

Weidner-Rice Rehearsal Dinner

Kristen & Kevin got married May 23, 2009 - Pictage Gallery is already posted and can be accessed thru the proofs link of our main website - but the night before was also very special. The rehearsal and rehearsal dinner was all about family and their closest friends, many who traveled long distances to be here with them. As everyone knows, the groom's family is responsible for hosting the rehearsal dinner. Sally and Nelson Rice went the extra mile to welcome everyone and treat them to an awesome evening. The rehearsal itself took a about an hour at Asbury United Methodist church and then we all zipped over to 61st & Yale to D'Novo restaurant and LXI cocktail lounge, which closed to the public for this private party, so they had the entire place to themselves...all night long! We walked into the most impeccably dressed room I've ever seen. Anne Marie of The French Bouquet really rocked the flowers - orchids everywhere in tall glass cylinders and mounds of white hydrangeas and lilies - it was sweet! Little cards with their names and one of their engagement photos filled each napkin, as a keepsake of the evening. Cocktails and passed hors d'ouvres at LXI followed by a delicious dinner next door at D'Novo. The food was fabulous. If you don't know this, D'Novo prepares and serves food that is low in fat and calories - I can't believe it because it was just too good to be good for you, you know? An evening of toasts, tears and laughter wrapped up with a video presentation created by Kevin's brother Tanner, which was a combination of hilarious and sentimental and the perfect ending to a wonderful night. I understand that many stayed on into the wee hours at LXI but I had to work the next day (ha ha!). Firecrackers popping and lighting up the sky, hot dogs and apple pie, streamers and the stars and stripes. It's America - home of the free and the brave. In celebration of our great nation and our troops who keep her free for you and me, Woodcreek Neighborhood had a parade this morning - the neighborhood kids decorated their bikes, scooters, 4-wheelers and whatever else they could find, including the dog in some houses - and played music and wheeled thru the streets. Of course, we had to have a little rain this morning - hasn't rained in I don't know how many days - but it did this morning and .... they just didn't care! The parade was followed by a cookout at the clubhouse and swimming - in the rain (is that a movie?) No wedding today so I just went out and snapped a few. Happy birthday, America! ON THE BRINK-LEY

I think last Saturday was the HOTTEST day of the year so far. Of course, we had Brinkley's senior portrait session anyway and .... awesome! I've known Brinkley's mom since before Brinkley was born and she and I have always gotten along famously. I did, however, almost send her to the car Saturday morning! Brinkley is her little baby girl still but I think you can see that inside that little girl is a pretty talented woman about to take on the world. A little shy, fairly stoic, accomplished saxophonist (is that a word?), naturally curly hair (we all know how I envy that!) and a killer smile. I think she's going to be okay out there. (I don't know what we're going to do with her mother!) Go get 'em Brink!

MIA MAGAZINE PREMIER ISSUE IS OUT!

It's here! Mia Magazine premier issue is on the stands. It's free and you can pick one up several places around town. We are so proud to be a part of this new magazine for women by providing photography for the wonderful stories. I've been dropping them off in the Starbucks, shops in Brookside, just anywhere women go. It's a smaller size - meant to be carried in your purse so you can grab a quick read while you're waiting for your kids, waiting for your doctor, waiting for your hair/nail appt - waiting..... well, you get it - women have to wait a lot and now we have a nice little magazine to help us fill the time. TULSA PEOPLE WEDDINGS - COVER GIRL!

We are thrilled to announce our darling bride, Meagan Stephens McDaniel is the new Tulsa People Weddings Cover Girl. When we were stylizing her bridal session I asked her where she thought she'd like to have it and she said she'd like to take a few at her house and then we could go somewhere else. I arrived at her house and immediately knew we didn't need to go anywhere else. It was perfect! And, of course she felt right at home so what could be better. Meagan wore a fabulously stellar designer gown by Monique Lhuillier of cream satin with an exquisite lace, re-embroidered corset, finished with a vanilla sash specially tied by...her mom. Meagan has some modeling experience and was actually called back and almost chosen for America's Next Top Model a couple of years ago. The Best Day

Wedding season is always so busy. I never seem to have time to spend with my family - well, they complain anyway - but today we just took a little time out and Kate, Tatum & Taylor and I went to the water park on 91st & Darlington. It was a little overcast so I could get by with a spf 70 for an hour or so! (It's hard being a ginger). I love to watch how the girls are starting to come into themselves and just get out there amongst 'em. Tatum cannot contain herself - I LOVE that about her. She jumps and hops and her joy just overflows to the ends of her curls! Taylor is still watching a bit. Let's see how it goes and maybe I'll go over there. She's not too wild about uncontrollable water yet, but she did give it a try today! They love Kate and she pushed them in the swings awhile and we ended up at Josh's Sno-Shack for a sno-cone before we had to be home. It was THE BEST DAY! I love my girls! Peek Here!

A little while ago, we did a commercial session for Zinke Design's new line of pampering products. Brides will love them but so will all the girls you know. On Bended Knee....

Women love romance....and there are few things more romantic than a marriage proposal on bended knee. if that proposal is made beneath a lace of winter trees on the grounds of Philbrook, tucked into the Christmas-festooned Tempieto...the culmination of a day of visiting all the places you fell in love...how could a girl possibly say no?

Lacy fell in love all over again as Trey slipped the "perfect," sparkling ring on her finger....and of course, she said yes. Every woman knows a man like this is a keeper.

Wild at Heart

Brooke and Mike are getting married in August. In Oklahoma. They are definitely two people who are risk takers, huh? I have known Brooke since she was a little girl. Brooke is artistic, creative and well, okay, she has a little wild streak in her. I love that about her! Apparently, so does Mike - who, I've been told - has had a few "wild child" moments of his own. I'm so glad these two have found each other. They are really at home with one another and make each other laugh ... a lot. Tulsa is their home turf and they wanted to go downtown for their engagement shoot. Of course, I must tote a furniture to most location, right? Oh, I almost forgot, we managed to catch the tail end of a train - another thing on their list. I had a great time with you two running around like crazies!

Sara Smiles

Named after the Hall & Oates song, Sara Milkovich was all smiles (and a few tears of joy) as she married her long-time love, Andrew Rapoport, in the Battery Park Gardens, New York City. Sara and Andrew's joy simply lit up the night. We were charmed by this couple.....and our wedding wish is that their love shines on forever. Mazel Tov!

Marcus & Mandy's Wedding

Planning an outside wedding in April, in Oklahoma, is a true act of faith. But that's just what Marcus and Mandy had and it worked out just right for them. April 25th, 2009, was a little breezy, a little cloudy sometimes, but an overall glorious day to get married. Golf Club of Oklahoma was the setting with the ceremony on the north lawn and the reception in the clubhouse with its sweeping veranda. Family and friends traveled from near and far to wish these two many blessings. Marcus and Mandy made a special effort to include many family members in their wedding party and make everyone feel welcome. Marcus' children - Katie and Jonathan - were honor attendants and rose to the task of marrying their dad off to Mandy!

EMILY & BLAKE - MIDTOWN MAGIC!

Emily and Blake go together ... like tulips and Starbucks! In Midtown EVERYONE knows what I'm talkin' 'bout. We had great afternoon Sunday for a little romance in one of Tulsa's landmark areas - Utica Square. Emily and Blake have a little history with tulips and coffee AND Utica Square so it only seemed too perfect that we'd have their engagement session there. Blake has been sending Emily tulips every month since they started dating and her proposal started with a bouquet of tulips and two cards - think scavenger hunt - and guess who was at the end of it with the BIG QUESTION! What a romantic! Emily is a second grade teacher and I am certain every one of her students just adores her! Blake keeps her in good training for them and these two just have so much fun together - lots of giggles going on! I had so much fun with you guys. Can't wait for your wedding this summer. Congrats on your first new home too!

Brides of Oklahoma Announcement Deadlines

Brides of Oklahoma Magazine publishes its next issue in July but May 15th is the DEADLINE for getting your wedding or engagement announcement application in. If you want to have your wedding or engagement photos and information in the next issue, go to their website or come by the studio for an application, 'cause we have some here of course! If you haven't seen the magazine, the January issue is still on the newstands and we have a copy you can look at too. I think we've only got a couple issues left to hand out but you are welcome to come by and look and visit and grab a Starbucks with us. We advertise with BOK Mag so be sure and tell them we're your 'togs and you'll get a discount on your submission fee. It's really a beautiful magazine, the photos looks great in there and the pages feel like silk. Yummy. It's a NICE publication to send to all your family and the cost is comparable to putting a black/white announcement in the newspaper for one day. Ace Reporters Crack Wedding Dress Mystery!

Now that I have your attention....This morning I was looking thru the newspaper - yes, the kind with pages and print - I LOVE those and hate to see them disappearing all over the globe but that's another BLOG - Anyway, full page ad Page A7 Sooner Surplus Sales - "Wedding Dresses - Top of the Line at a FRACTION of Bridal Store Prices" "Nothing priced over $299" - so we decided to take a drive to the west side of Tulsa and check it out. You have to go across the 21st street bridge, follow signs towards Chandler Park and it's on the left before the park. It's a warehouse. It's a WAREHOUSE. A metal warehouse. When you go in it's like a big thrift store. We walked all the way to the back and there they were. Racks of wedding dresses in their plastic sheaths and hanging according to size. Sizes 2-16. Organized. The covers had a name and phone number on it and I googled it and it was a bridal store from Tempe, Arizona that went out of biz. Anyway, there were a lot of dresses. Some not so great, but some were very nice. They had a few Alfred Angelo dresses, MToo Couture, and several other brands. They still had the store tags on them with prices and then the sign for pricing at the Warehouse.

We thought we'd be like Clark Kent and Lois Lane reporting but it was more like Lucy & Ethel as we sneaked Sophia into the dressing room (I use that term loosely) to try one on. It's a little big on her but you can see the dress anyway.

This one was a M Too Couture dress. It had a full lace overlay with scallop lace hem and tons of little seed pearls also. It was a very pretty dress. This is a size 6 but I saw it in several sizes. It had a price tag of $2299.00 on it from the store. It was $299.00 at the Warehouse.

Had a zipper in the back but it also had the little satin buttons.
Had a sweeping circular train that french bustled underneath.
The price tag: $2299.00 - white tag from warehouse $299.99

Bottom line is, there are some nice dresses there to be found if you look for them. They had white, diamond white, candlelight, off white, white w/red, white w/black, sleeves, sleeveless, cap sleeves, long sleeves. A lot to choose from. It's not glamourous. No one is going to schmooze you or offer you champagne while you shop but then you will be getting a dress for under $300 so you'll save enough money to buy your own champagne! (Or Upgrade your wedding Album!) Something else, you cannot alter a dress down more than two sizes. So, if you wear a size 2, don't buy a size 8. It won't work. And, remember, a dress this big never looks the same on the hanger - YOU HAVE TO TRY IT ON to find out if it's THE ONE.

Kristen & Kevin sittin' in a tree.....

Okay, well not really in a tree but they are K-I-S-S-I-N-G! That's because they're getting married! And they'll finally live in the sameplace ! Kevin's been in NYC and Kristen here in Tulsa finishing Med School. Well, May 23rd is the date. So, these two are hard to get in the same place at the same time but we managed a little time in downtown Tulsa on a Sunday afternoon to take a few love shots. It was another weird weather day - 70's when we arrived and 50's when we left an hour later. Very fun guys. Thanks for being good sports and braving the wind!

M&M Engaged

We actually shot these when our new website was being transitioned. Marcus and Mandy are getting married in April at The Golf Club of Oklahoma. Anne Marie of The French Bouquet will be providing flowers so I can't wait for that! These two met years ago and went separate ways with separate lives.....only to meet again in Dallas and fall in love! We met out at The Barn one afternoon and shot a few engagement photos of the happy pair. Aren't they cute? :-) BTW, we call them Mork N Mindy b/c we always get tongue-tied saying MarcusnMandyMarcusnMandy --- see what I mean? And, really now, who doesn't love Mork N Mindy? We do!

Bridal Veils

Brides ask us about veils all the time. A lot of times with that "do I really need to wear one" look on their faces. YES. You do. At least for a little while. It's the one day you GET to wear one. I really like to have them included in the Bridal Sessions. It's so flowy (not a word I guess) and you get such great movement in your photos with one. Beautiful Jessica - Senior 2009 - Claremore, OK

We kicked off Jessica's senior session with a little green screen - to be posted later - and then off to the park to get the look she wanted. It was a wee bit colder and colder with the wind but it did wonderful things for her hair and outfits! She's a trouper! We finally sought a little refuge in the greenhouse where it was nice and toasty. Okay, is it just us or does she totally look like Audrey Hepburn? That gorgeous, flawless face. Brides of Oklahoma Shoot at the BARN

Lisa & Sophia did a feature shoot for the Brides of Oklahoma Magazine in 2008. It was August and hotter than .... well, you know... but our model was gorgeous and her dress Couture. Who could ask for anything more? (that kind of rhymes - it could be a song!) We also had the privilege of shooting it at The Barn - Vive la Ranch in South Tulsa. When we heard that, we decided to arrange for a few little props - boots and a truck. Gorgeous girl+fabulous dress+boots+truck+barn = MAGIC. We had to wait to post until the Magazine published Jan 16th. It's out so come by the studio and take a look. I recently had a Double Digits session with this little girl and almost cried. I've been photographing her since she was born and now she is in Double Digits! Almost grown. Our Double Digit sessions are created for that time when children are almost passing over into adulthood. You see glimpses of the adult they are going to be and yet they are still a child—still full of wonder and FUN! My husband and I had Double Digit celebrations with our children when they turned 10 to make a special time of getting older and getting new opportunities and responsibilities—it was so much fun and they still talk about it and how special they felt. That's what we do with our Double Digit sessions. We really make your child feel special about being in double digits now—it's an exciting time in life and yet one that often goes ignored. This is such a darling little face! It lives in a sweet family too. I had so much fun with Mack and his parents, Krista & Jack, at the park recently. He's a busy toddler and loves to run and play soccer so we had plenty of wide open space and we even saw a few ducks in the creek at Woodward Park. Jessi is going to be 2 in April. I first photographed her "in utero" so to speak, when I had a maternity session with her family as they anxiously awaited her arrival, and then again when she was born. She had the most hair I've ever seen on a newborn baby! Now, she has little ponytails. She looks like BOO on Monsters, Inc, don't you think? One of our New Year's Resolutions is going to be get our blogging under control! I'm afraid it does kind of get pushed to the rear when we get busy and have orders and viewings and, of course, we do take photographs from time to time! Anyway, we've had lots going on at LSD and it's going to be VERY FUN! Our new website is getting ready to launch and we are so excited. It should great for everyone - we can update it ourselves! yeah! It will link to our BLOGS - one for weddings and portraits, one for seniors (all your own!) and our fun little Trippin' with LSD for some of our stranger outings. ( I use the term outing to mean going out - on a trip or ... you know what I mean!) Sometimes I say things and my kids (adults) look at me with "the look" and tell me "you can't say that anymore, mom". So, feel free to tell me when my terminology is askew. I take no offense! These next few blogs are all on the same date but have been taken in the last month or so. We're really focusing on our portraiture these days and LOVE it. Stylizing a session, creating and directing a session, shooting a session - it's all so much fun - and then the artistic implements to the image come into play and it all comes together just like in our heads! It's a beautiful thing!

New York Says Thank You - Greensburg, KS

We were recently invited to Greensburg, KS by the New York Says Thank You organization (you can see a little about them at the Youtube link here) for their annual Pay it Forward event. Each year a group of US citizens headed by FDNY firefighters, many who were present on 9/11, go to another U.S. location hit by hardship to help fellow Americans rebuild their lives after disaster. Each year, more and more people show up to help - usually from the place that was helped the year before. This year, it was Greensburg, KS, a town virtually destroyed by an EF-5 tornado May 4, 2007. Along with the FDNY, there was help from Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, California, Louisiana, Mississippi and others. They all worked together in mud like you wouldn't believe! to raise a barn on the fairgrounds in Greensburg, KS for the 4H club. They worked sun up to sundown for 3 days and, even though the weather was a little hampering, got a great start for the barn! As a side project, FDNY sent the flag that was hanging at ground zero for several months after 9/11 until enough debris could be removed to reach it, to Greensburg, where it was lovingly patched with flags from Greensburg and other places. We were humbled and honored to be here and to document the weekend's activities for this wonderful organization. Jeff Parness summed it up in his 9/12 email "Seven years ago today, our world changed forever as well. That’s the day New Yorkers and Americans came together and witnessed unprecedented acts of kindness, neighborliness, and love. And that’s what NEW YORK SAYS THANK YOU is all about. What we do is not about 9/11. What we do is about 9/12....From one day of terror, 10 Years of Kindness." Sara and Shane both have to travel a LOT for their jobs in the medical industry. But as Shane said, "it's not that bad, that's where I met the love of my life." It looks pretty apparent to me that he and Sara both feel that way. So, it was very appropriate when Sara wanted to do their engagement session at the Tulsa International Airport, where we met Sunday afternoon. It was a perfect spot for this perfect pair. May 17th was a beautiful Saturday afternoon for Kim Payne and Scott Stivers to exchange vows with friends and families surrounding them. A reception followed outside in a park-like backyard with wonderful food prepared with love by The Wild Fork. A pink dress, ribbon-tied shoes with light-up heels, a jewel edged veil and something blue on her bouquet of pink roses made for a fairytale day marking the beginning of wonderful marriage for Kim and Scott and their family of boys - Kyle and Benny. Congratulations! It was a wonderful day!

Just another Manic Monday

I don't even know what to say about these two. Patti called me a few weeks ago from Texas and said she and her fiance were going to be in Tulsa on Monday, May 5 to get married at the Chapel by the Courthouse and could I meet them there and take a few photos. She found me on the internet - the same place she found Dave - her fiance. The same place she found Chapel by the Courthouse too. I listened to her story and I was so curious to find out more. Maybe because 20 years ago, I got married in a similar fashion - eloped to a city I barely knew, met the witnesses to my wedding that day at the courthouse. I felt a connection to Patti and I didn't really know why. I asked her if she knew how much we charged for weddings. She had no idea. She told me she'd broken her foot and was in a boot but had a great shoe for the other one. We made a deal. A few days later, she called me again, she needed someone to fix her hair and makeup that day. I called my daughter, Morgan - a hairdresser and great makeup artist...she said "sure". I showed up at 3:00 at the Renaissance Hotel and met Patti and Dave -- "Mr. Dave" she called him. Morgan fixed her hair and put on her makeup. We learned they'd met on the internet. Both had been married before. Both were still looking for "the one". They knew they were in love before they ever met, and the deal was sealed when they finally did. Kendra with VIP limo picked us all up at the Hotel. We went to the Tulsa County Courthouse to get the marriage license. My sister, Sandy, works there and we practically grew up in the courthouse so that was a breeze. Next, Kendra takes us to the address we had for the Chapel by the Courthouse. It's now a bar. Ummm. We call "Pastor Bob" and leave word. He calls and directs us to the "new" location. It's at 12th & Houston. Oh, and by the way, he also runs the gas station next door. Yeah. (I'm not making this up) We pull up there in the VIP limo. I see the bride's face fall to the floor. They are catching Southwest to Vegas for a much anticipated honeymoon the next day --- they must get married today. It's almost 5 o'clock. Too late to find a judge or justice of the peace. Well, it just so happens that I used to be on staff at Asbury United Methodist Church so I called out there and there were two Pastors still in the building, but they were meeting with people so I couldn't talk to them. Kendra fired up the limo and away we went towards Asbury. I went inside and Pastor Darlene was still there. I told here they had to get married today and were waiting in the car outside. She said, in her Darlene way, "Today? Well, give me a minute and I'll meet you in the prayer room." Hallelujah! Darlene married them in the beautiful little prayer room at Asbury on May 5, 2008. Kendra had them back to their Hotel and on to her next appointment by 6:00 p.m. Mr. & Mrs. Kerbs finally got married and got to spend their first night together as husband and wife in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Neither had ever been here before but I'm thinking they will always have a sweet spot in their hearts for our dear little city. Maybe on their anniversary they'll say...."Take me back to Tulsa." It was an evening of merriment in an enchanted villa of vaulted ceilings, gilded walls, burnished floors and leaded glass. It was a swirl of lace, a splash of champagne, scattered rose petals, toasts and tears—and finally a stolen moment…

From across the room she moved like a swan on a moonlit lake. The flickering candlelight danced upon her emerald-flecked eyes. Chestnut curls tumbled over her ivory skin. The room fell away upon his embrace and he whispered in her ear, “As long as there are stars in the sky, we will dance among them.”

Here's Sophia! - Official Introduction

A lot of you already know Sophia Litchfield because we've been shooting together from the studio for over a year BUT it's now official... We're full partners in this business. Our Partnership is named Five-to-50. Sophia and I were each other's "first friend" - the one you meet in kindergarten that isn't part of your family and you realize you're not stuck playing with your sisters all the time! So that's the Five and I think we all know what the 50 means! We photographed for yearbook, graduated high school together, I was in HER wedding (it was the first time I'd seen champagne come out of a fountain!), stayed in touch during all our child-rearing years and reconnected when I shot her daughter, Jessica's wedding. Even though we hadn't been together a lot for 20 years, we fell right back into that same friendship we've always had. Sophia has a degree in ART/Graphic Design and brings incredible artistic skills to the venture along with her existing Graphic Design business-Pixel Passion. Here's some photos I've taken of her On The Job - she likes the first one but I kind of like the others! I couldn't be partners with anyone else and I'm so glad she's here!

We've got a remodel beginning at the Studio this week. After a year in the space, we've decided to re-configure and enlarge the media room to include a natural light studio wing. We should be back in there by mid-june full time and have a new studio to shoot in too!

Many of you know that my family and I just moved our household a little further south - to Tulsa/Bixby line at 111th. Well, our move is complete - almost. It takes a while to move almost 15 years of stuff out of a big house and into a house half the size. We had 7 family members at one time and now we're just 3! I also had a natural light studio in that house which is now being constructed at our Brookside location. Lots of changes in a short amount of time! Anyway, I want to say THANK YOU to everyone who has helped us - both professionally and personally - during this move and for your patience if you've been waiting for photo products. The opportunity for our new house was a sudden one and we haven't sold our big house on the hill yet. Why don't we steal away...into the night

Anne and Thomas did just that - stole away to Eureka Springs and got married last July 21, 2007. Then something went out in the mail that read -- "They up and eloped and got themselves hitched - And we as their parents felt we got ditched! - But alas, don't depair; we'll have the last say - We'll throw them a party and celebrate anyway!" My Sweet Baby Girls

Don't Hate me but I just spent 2.5 days with my darling little granddaughters! Tatum & Taylor. They are so sweet! We had a good time but, man, they wear me out! I know why their mother is so tired and skinny! She never gets to sleep and she never gets to eat! Seriously, they are a handful but overall, hilarious and I feel so blessed to have them in my life. They are THE BEST! Nana let them have chocolate donuts every day ... if that's what they wanted. Nana let Tatum have her TV timer on for 120 ... if that's what she wanted. Nana let Taylor have a bottle at 5 a.m. ... if that's what she wanted. Well, you get the picture. xxoo

Amber Knapp and Brandt Vawter exchanged vows at Asbury United Methodist Church and celebrated their union with a reception blast in The Grand Ballroom of the Renaissance Hotel in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The Bride was stunning in a Monique Lhuillier dress of ivory satin trimmed with platinum bows. The wedding cake mirrored her dress. With both bride and groom in the oil business, the wedding kept that theme of Oklahoma oil boom opulence. It was nothing short of breath-taking. Lasting Impressions Event Design had the place looking like a million bucks and Dave & The Wave Tones kept the crowd dancing into the wee hours and wanting more. The happy couple dashed off into the night in a Corvette convertible, on their way to an undisclosed location. Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Vawter! A "Capitol" Idea! Kate & Todd - married!

They met in our capitol city, romanced in Alexandria's Olde Towne and married right here in beautiful Tulsa, Oklahoma, this past Saturday night - July 21, 2007. The ceremony was held in the Boston Avenue Methodist Church - an incredible architectural testament to Tulsa's early days with it's ornate art-deco details. The Reverend Mouzon Biggs officiated in the Rose Chapel - where he married the bride's parents 3 decades ago. An elegant reception followed at Harwelden with great food, drink, music and many friends and family. The groom hails from Vermont and the celebration was heavily attended by east-coasters who battled our heat, humidity and orange barrels with smiles to be here for Kate and Todd. Following a honeymoon to Ireland, Kate & Todd are making their home here in T-town with their "blended" canine family - Chevis and Duke. It was intimate, lovely and loads of fun. Malissa and Trevor exchanged vows Saturday - July 7, 2007 - underneath the trees at The Skelly Lodge in Catoosa, OK. There were more family photographers there than I've ever seen before, all wanting to share in the excitement and celebration of the unity of this darling couple. COME RAIN OR SHINE - THEY'RE MARRIED!

We've had rain for the past 18 days in a row and Saturday was no exception. Even though it moved a planned outdoor ceremony inside - the result was the same. Sarah and Chris are finally married! Just before they exchanged vows, the clouds moved out and the sun shone through the windows at the Dresser Mansion, pouring light into the room and into the hearts of all their friends and family watching. No rain the remainder of the evening for a beautiful reception with dancing and celebrating until this sweet and beautiful artist rode off into the night with her musician on a Stella. These two have been waiting quite a while to marry each other. College and grad school - the wait is finally over and they became husband and wife Saturday night at First United Methodist Church in BA and a roaring reception following at the Tulsa Garden Center. All pink and black - my favorite colors! Will's father co-officiated the service, Will sang to his bride before they exchanged vows. It was so sweet - there were lots of tears in the house that's for sure! Congratulations, Deanna & Will! You two will have a long and loving marriage, we're sure of it!

Twin Hills Country Club in OKC was the picture perfect setting for this darling couple - Mikel & Garrett - to tie the knot on Saturday, surrounded by their friends and family and plenty of kleenex. The ceremony took place under the BIG TENT and the reception inside the ballroom - it was beautiful. they had a great band - The Groove Merchants - who rocked the house 'til midnight. When it Rains it Pours!

What do meteorologists do in Oklahoma in May? Well, they don't get to sleep much that's for sure. It took a couple of storm warnings before we could get together for Nicole and Brad's engagement session. They are BOTH meteorologists here at the weather center but at least they work the same shift! You know, they really can't control the weather! Bummer! We had a nice overcast morning and they led me out to the Doppler radar in Inola. It was a fun time. Brad says he doesn't like pictures - ha ha - he looks like he's having fun to me!

A GRAND Love Affair

i spent Memorial Day weekend at Grand Lake and it rained most of the time BUT... I did get to squeeze a quick session in with Ashley and Clint on Friday afternoon - during a cloud break. They live in Austin, TX but were visiting her family's lakehouse for the holiday so it just seemed too perfect to pass up. Besides, it turns out they met and had quite a courtship at Grand Lake and are now set to tie the knot in the fall. Clint told me that Ashley could drive a BIG BOAT when she was 17 and he said..."when she backed that boat up to the dock and dropped me off, I was in love!" It's obvious that's still the case, huh? I think she kinda likes him too. Can't wait for this September party! Thanks for giving me a little of your holiday, guys. AND.. thanks for the boat ride, Grant. Lisa

Lucky Sevens!

Sunday's weather was perfect for an engagement session with the Lucky Sevens couple - getting married on 07/07/07. We took their darling little Izzy for a walk along the Arkansas River and found plenty of opportunities for romance. These two are so comfortable with each other. Affection is not a problem here, if you know what I mean. BUT, Izzy gets a little jealous when their attention isn't for her!

Anyone who knows Genniva and Banks knows they've been a couple since, well...since forever and Saturday night, they finally made it official at Trinity Episcopal Church. Amidst the crowds of well wishers, friends and MayNintinis a grand celebration ensued at The Mayo Hotel in downtown Tulsa. Dancing into the wee hours and finally making their way to the honeymoon suite in a horse-drawn carriage - the real fairytale begins! We're so happy for you two! I got to spend a little time with Amber this week for her bridal portraits. OMG! She is so beautiful - It was like having a Vogue model. She has a beautiful gown - Monique Lhuillier designer - fits like a glove on her hourglass figure! Could it be any better than this? Now, we just have to get her to breathe regularly in it since she almost fainted from holding her breath to be still for the photographs. She didn't need to be that still! Breathe, Amber, breathe! Graduation AND marriage - New Beginnings

These two are getting married soon - real soon - so soon that I almost didn't get to have this session - (well, I think we all know we would have had this session-it's the only RULE I have!) They've been studying so much and between finals and wedding plans managed to come to Tulsa and squeeze it in. And, in between rain storms no less! Sunday was a sunny, glorious day - and when I met up with Angela and Mark it didn't take long to see there was more than pollen in the air! She and I were both having a little trouble breathing but we sailed on and I'm so glad we did. These two met on the internet too. This is my third marriage of an internet couple in a year! That internet match making must be doing something right - or is it, computers just don't lie? Either way, these two definitely compute and I can't wait for their fall wedding.

I recently had a session with this darling little girl - Presley - she's almost 9 months old. She was the cutest, sweetest and definitely one of the most loved babies I've ever met. Well, you can certainly tell she feels loved. Any mention of patty-cake and she would break into big smiles and start clapping away! So precious! Taylor Ann made her way into the world today around 5:00 p.m. Yeah! We are grandparents again! Everyone is thrilled that our little Tatum has a new sister! She weighed in at 7 lbs. 8 oz and 20 1/2" long. Her mom and dad seemed pretty pleased as well as all her grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She has a terrific set of lungs on her and doesn't hesitate to use them either. ;-) Welcome little Taylor! We LOVE you! xxoo

I had THE best time with these 2 today! They are true artists at heart - I love that. They were so cute and comfortable with each other. It's so nice to have that in front of your camera! Fluid movement - spontaneous movements - it was wonderful! AND -- they have a Vespa! I can't wait! How fun it that! Mighty Meredith Ties the Knot!

I could have entitled this "Polly Pocket gets Married"! Meredith is the tiniest, sweetest, little darlin' of a girl and Josh is her big, baseball playing man. Saturday was the date they have been waiting for for over a decade. High School sweethearts all grown up and starting their lives together. Their families couldn't be happier for them and the entire weekend was evidence of that! A wonderful rehearsal dinner at The Blue Mesa Grille started things off right. A gorgeous Texas day on Saturday was the perfect backdrop for the heartfelt vows they exchanged in their Dallas Baptist church and made the night clear for a rockin' reception at the Doubletree Hotel - where, I'm told, they filmed the infamous "Who Shot J.R." episode of Dallas. It was quite a view from the Skyline Ballroom on the 21st floor with all the sparkling lights of Big D but even all those lights couldn't outshine the Bride & Groom and their obvious love for one another. The wedding on April 21, 2007, has been cancelled and there's at least one broken heart involved. I know it's only a few weeks away but if anyone needs a wedding photographer on this date, please call. It was going to take place at Camp Loughridge so that's probably available as well. Over a year's worth of planning was done on this wedding as she hired me in March of 2005 so if you're wanting to throw a nice wedding in just a few weeks, call me and we'll see what all you can step right into. As bad as cancelling a wedding so close may feel, it's not half as bad as marrying the wrong person because you already had your dress! Good Luck, Lori.

Virginia is for Lovers

That sounds like a bumper sticker..umm. Well, it should be - Kate and Todd are set to tie the knot this summer so we spent a little time last week in Alexandria, VA where they met and live, and the dogs weren't the only ones with cold noses. It was a little chilly but we forged ahead and had so much fun in Old Town Alexandria. Their dogs are actually the matchmakers here. It was Duke and Chevy that introduced them and kept them running into each other until they fell in love. They'll soon be one big happy - fuzzy - family. I had a great time in your beautiful little town guys. Thanks so much! July will be here before you know it!

It's official! LSDunham Photography is moving to Brookside! We will have the old Dog Dish space behind Ribbons and Prive on 35th Place just off Peoria. We're planning some renovations - get rid of the dog hair and all - and hope to be in by first of April or there 'bouts. A Grand Opening will be planned for shortly thereafter so keep checking the Blog or the Myspace page for details.

The Marshall Family had 3 week old Samuel Thomas baptized today at Asbury United Methodist Church by Pastor Tom. He was so good! Isn't this a nice looking family? As most of you know, we book up pretty far in advance. HOWEVER, I just had June 2nd move their date to fall so I do have JUNE 2, 2007, available again. There are a few Saturdays available in the Spring & Summer schedule but not many left. We are now booking all FALL AND WINTER weddings and even a 2008! It's never too early! I realize the June date may be too soon for most of you brides ... so I'll probably just end up at the lake that weekend!

We've always had a right of passage - a celebration - when each of our children, godchildren, grandchildren, yada yada, reaches the age of ten. We call it the Double Digit Celebration and we always make a BIG deal about it. It's kinda spilled over into my business because I think everyone realizes that age 10 is the threshold of adulthood - the single digit years are over and before you can blink sometimes your child is grown. My Double Digit portrait sessions have now become a celebration in their own right. You can probably see why with these photos. I've taken pictures of this child since she was born and now she's 10. So sweet and beautiful with all the innocence of a child and the promise of great things for the woman she'll soon become. Now that's reason to Celebrate! Welcome to the Sisterhood!

WE are NEVER getting out of here!

Most of you know by now that we had the Mother of all Ice Storms this past weekend. It started on Friday around noon and for the next 4 days we had ice, sleet, freezing rain, a little snow flurry from time to time and then more ice. If you've ever been to my studio, in my home, you know I am pretty far off the road, and up on a hill. My driveway scares people in good weather. Take a look at it now. I finally ventured out to the street on Monday to take these photos but it was sooo cold, I retreated rather promptly. You don't even make footprints - it is very weird.

Last week - before the weather trapped all of us inside - I took my daughter, Kate and my granddaughter, Ashtyn, to the mall to get their ear pierced. I told Kate she had to wait until she was 10 and then she could do it and when she got to 10, she decided to wait a little while. Now, she's 12 and Ashtyn is 10 so they've talked each other into it. Here's a couple pics. I have to say, Ashtyn was the big motivator behind this venture and yet ended up making a bigger fuss in the end - nothing a little dippin dots couldn't cure - these two can do anything together - that's kinda scary, actually. Bottom line - they've both got a couple more holes in their heads now!

Deanna and Will - planning a summer wedding here in Tulsa - came home for the holidays so we got to squeeze their engagement session in while they're here. It's almost 2007 - wow, this year went by fast. We are already booking weddings into next fall so it looks like 2007 will be another terrific year full of beautiful brides. We will be at the Oklahoma Magazine Wedding Show on Saturday, January 6, 2007, at the Doubletree Hotel at 61st & Yale. Our new pricing structure rolls out at that time but if you book your 2007 wedding in 2006, you can still have the 2006 pricing and save a little bit! Two weeks ago I was iced into my house and this Saturday it was Gretchen and Chad's wedding day at Gilcrease Museum and it was almost 70 degrees! Gorgeous day + beautiful bride + handsome groom = Bliss! Congratulations!
